The Stingray
The Stingray is a very cool slope aerobatics glider that was originally created as a design study for a fullsize glider, then created in a variety of other sizes including two commercial models, one available from Wings and More of Germany and the other from X-Models of Italy. There’s a great article in Radio Control Soaring Digest about the design study version of the Stingray.
Here’s video of the beautiful (and pricey!) 3.3m version of the Stingray from Germany. Flies amazingly well at that site, and look at the landing zone… wow!!

The landing zone looks very nice – but it is exactly where we do DS!
So it’s really tricky to land, because of the turbuleces…

I’m quite impressed with the Stingray as presented in the video above. It’s clear that the glider flies extremely well. I will eagerly post any additional videos you’ve got or come up with!

Was just reading RC-Network.de and found Giuseppe “Beppe” Ghisleri (the designer of the model version of the Stingray) posted this link to the website of the folks who are hoping to produce a 1:1 fullsize Stingray. Very cool!
We’ve been at the Hahnenmoos (Switzerland) to get some new video-takes and to give othe pilot the possibility to fly the Stingray.
But the weatherconditions were cruelly. Heavy rain all the time… 🙁
Next chance: Fiss (Flying Circus) in the time of 15.7.2010 – 18.7.2010…

That was such a stylish landing approach.
As a proud owner of a WingsandMore ‘ray I can confirm that this is one awesome glider! It’s most outstanding feature is it’s energy retention on the vertical uplines. It’s possible WaM have invented the impossible (energy out of nothing)! It’s also very neutral and good-natured. This glider has made me look at the rest of my fleet with new eyes. I’ve already sold on quite a few of what were previously favorite planes that suddenly were out-classed overnight…
I can’t wait for these gliders to arrive and be flown in the USA: it’s going to blow you guys away!
