The J-Flip Tail-First Takeoff
The J-Flip Tail-First Takeoff from surfimp on Vimeo.
I was inspired to try this tail first takeoff after watching my seven year old son, José Luis, playing with a chuck glider. He launched the chuck glider tail-first and inverted, and it did a half flip and then flew away upright.
I figured why not? Here I am performing it with my 17oz ultralight Le Fish. I named the trick the J-Flip in honor of my son.

Here we have something new !
H U G E !
Hahah thanks, but actually a responder on RCGroups indicates that Marcel Guwang has been doing them with the Voltij and Minij since 1999 near Toulouse. That’s fine with me, I like being in the company of someone I respect so much as Marcel! 🙂
I will amend the video to make it more clear that I am not claiming any sort of invention here. I am sure many people have done this for many years, I just refer to it as a J-Flip because my own idea for this came from watching my son play with a chuck glider.
But anyways, it’s a fun trick and I highly recommend it, whatever we want to call it! 🙂
Way cool 😀
