2013 TOSS Aerobatics Contest Video
TOSS Aerobatics Event 2013 from Alan Ball on Vimeo.
The official video of the 5th Annual Two Oceans Slope Soarers Aerobatics Contest has been released. This is one of the only regularly scheduled slope aerobatics contests running in the world right now, and by the turnout (23 pilots this year), it’s clear that they’re doing it right!
The event is based around the execution of a series of precision figures. There are no turnaround figures, only center figures, so in this regard it’s similar to classic Pattern events from the past (and distinct from F3A and IMAC sequences today, in which turnaround figures are included). The judges come from a powered F3A and Pattern background and some of them are judging instructors themselves. Standard aerobatics judging criteria are applied, including K factor difficulty.
TOSS have really created a good model here, something that could be replicated anywhere there was sufficient interest in slope aerobatic competition. Full details, including results, are available on the TOSS website and blog. Details on the Expert class winning plane, the Aresti scratchbuild by Hans van Kemp and flown by Louis Genade, available here.
Great job TOSS! 🙂
