1st VTPR Glider Rally at the Ménez-Hom
Received this wonderful new video from Damien Didier, featuring of the first VTPR glider rally held at the world-famous Ménez-Hom in Brittany, France by the AVPMH (Slope Flight Association of Ménez-Hom).
Here are his comments:
On April 5th, 2015, the AVPMH (Association Vol de Pente au MÉNEZ HOM) held an aerobatic glider rally (not a competition but just a gathering of owners of aerobatic gliders).
The challenge was launched within the association – but would it be a flop or a success? Well, it turned out to be a big success, with 31 pilots and “only” 47 gliders (and yes the equipment was out there that day!!)
There were exceptional models (many not available in commercial trade): EXCALIBUR 2.0, QUARTZ, SONIC, AIR 100, Ippon, TWISPON (a mix of Ippon and Twister), TWISTER, as well as others from small artisan designers: Thutmose Vulcan, Le Fish and Vagabond…
Despite an unfavorable wind direction which led to holding this meeting on the eastern face of the Menez-Hom (a shallow slope with a lot of stones), the show was beautifully orchestrated by pilots including POULAIN, LAURANS, METZ, Courtillon and all the others.
At the end of the day a word, a phrase came back: Superb, forward to the next day!!!
The AVPMH’s bet has paid off. This meeting will become a milestone in the world of silent aerobatics.
Relive the day through this video edited by Damien DIDIER.
