François and the Catrax, 2019
A really fun video of François Cahour flying his prototype Catrax at Aiguille Croche and Mont Clocher in the Beaufortain, French Alps. François has been developing the Quartz, the design from which the Catrax is evolved, for over 30 years, and the current version features rotary-driven ailerons, flaps, incidence integral (wingeron), madstab elevator, and even a recovery motor with folding prop. It’s a heck of a machine and one of the most capable aerobatics gliders ever created. Enjoy!
Update: here’s a quick demo of the type of controls featured on the Catrax and Quartz.
